The Swiss Army Knife of Communications...
On March 11, 2017 I organized the Stay Woke comedy show to raise money for organizations fighting for immigrants rights. The stand-up show and improv competition brought out close to a 100 people to Starr Bar in Bushwick Brooklyn and proceeds were donated to UnLocal - an advocacy group that provides legal representation to undocumented immigrants.
In January 2013, I organized the third installment of the Tackling Poverty Conversation and Networking Series at El Museo de Barrio in East Harlem. Hosted by ABC-TV journalist David Novarro and featuring New York Times columnist Bob Herbert and MSNBC commentator Maya Wiley, the event drew close to 200 attendees and garnered night-time broadcast television coverage.
In May 2013 I put together the Bronx installment of the Tackling Poverty Conversation & Networking Series at the Bronx Museum of the Arts - bringing together service providers, advocates, and residents to address the city's growing homelessness crisis.
The Brooklyn installment of the Tackling Poverty Conversation & Networking Series focused on education and featured wall-length maps on poverty and graduation rates in the city. New York City Public Advocate Tish James gave keynote remarks. You can read more about it here.
In 2011 I organized City Limits' 35th Anniversary Gala at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. City Limits received a proclamation from the Mayor's Office during the event and it was attended by Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.
In March 2011 I organized a launch party for City Limits' "Defining Brooklyn" issue at the Skylight Gallery in Bedford-Stuyvesant. You can check out the issue for yourself here
